The flight to Houston forced to land in Seattle after the passenger tries to open the exit door halfway

A passenger on a flight from Tokyo to Houston tried to open an emergency exit door in mid-vol, which led the crew to divert the plane to Seattle early Saturday morning.

The flight landed safely at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around 4:19

Seattle airport officials say the passengers and the driving crew held the individual until the plane can land.

After the plane landed, the person was determined to have a medical crisis. They were taken by EMS to a neighboring hospital.

The flight, initially planned to land at Houston Intercontinental Bush airport at 8:25 am, finally arrived a few hours later, around 12:15 p.m.

No other details on the passenger or his condition have been published.

It was a Japanese Airways flight and they published the following statement:

Today, the whole Japanese flight Airways NH114 leaving Tokyo Haneda airport for Houston Intercontinental Airport was diverted in flight to Seattle due to an unruly passenger. While on the Tarmac in Seattle, a second passenger has become unruly. The two were removed from the flight by the port of the Seattle police. The flight to Houston continued without incident.

The security of our passengers and the crew is our top priority and we applaud the efforts of the local police for their support.
