- The SpaceX spacecraft exploded after its last launch in space, causing flight embezzlement and viral videos.
- The Federal Aviation Administration closed Florida airspace after the SpaceX incident.
- A previous explosion of starship in January also caused debris on the Caribbean.
Mariah Davenport and Dane Siler were more than an hour after their flight when they saw it: the fiery debris by the window.
The young couple, both students of the Wisconsin, told Business Insider that they were turning to the United States on Thursday of the Dominican Republic where they had spent a vacation in Punta Cana.
Siler said that the frontier pilot had warned them that the Dominican Republic flight in Chicago could take a little more time due to a diversion in the flight trajectory due to the launch of SpaceX Starship on Thursday evening.
However, they were surprised when, not yet halfway through the flight, they heard the pilot make an announcement.
“He said,” If you look to your right, one of the rockets has exploded “,” said Siler. “I’m like, what? So, so we looked through a window, and that’s where I caught my phone and saved it.”
A video of the fiery debris that Davenport published on Tiktok has become viral, accumulating more than 12 million views in a few days.
The SpaceX spaceship has become uncontrollable shortly after its launch and exploded as it reached space. The Federal Aviation Administration closed the airspace on a large part of Florida after the incident and published a temporary field stop at several airports.
The explosion occurs a month after a starship exploded during a test flight in January and rained debris above the Caribbean, provoking similar disruptions and hijackings.
“We thought it was cool,” said Siler. “We did not think we were in danger, then 20 minutes later, he told us that we were going to have to return to Punta Cana, so it was still an hour and a half.”
Davenport said that it was pissed off when, after the plane landed in Punta Cana to fill the gas, she heard a sealant of on -board agents, “it was too close to comfort”.
“Hearing who was very frightening,” said Davenport.
The couple finally returned home several hours later than expected.
The FAA investigation into the incident.
Frontier and SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
