Philadelphia (WKRC) – Passengers aboard a American Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Italy met an unexpected detour when their plane was reached halfway.
The plane, originally for Naples International Airport, was diverted to Rome Fimicino Airport on June 2 because it was too big to land at its destination, Initiate of Business reported.
An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed the diversion PEOPLEthatThe Flight 780 of American Airlines, which left Philadelphia International Airport, was diverted to Rome Fiumicino airport “due to operational limitations”.
The spokesperson also explained: “Customers have traveled from (Rome) to (Naples) by bus, and we apologize to their disturbance of their trip.” A journey from Rome to Naples usually takes about three hours.
