Las Vegas – Humans are not the only problem for our NA’VI heroes in the next film “Avatar”.
The closing of Disney’s presentation in Cinemacon Thursday, the franchise star (and the newly created Oscars winner) Zoe Saldaña presented the first 3D images of “Avatar: Fire & Ash” (in theaters on December 19) during the convention of theater owners. Director James Cameron sent a video message from New Zealand, where he finished the third episode “Avatar” before his vacation.
The latest film, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, presented the aquatic clan Metkayina to the mythology of the film, and the first radical and vast images gave the public an overview of two other tribes. Saldaña described the Windtraders as a “nomadic air clan” while the Mangkwan clan, alias the “Ash People”, are former Nai’Vi who abandoned the Eywa deity and live in the midst of volcanoes.
The images have shown that the Sully family – including Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Saldaña) – traveling from the ocean environment where they ended up in “The Water of Water” and going to the sky in large Medusa Air ships. They are attacked by bandits on winged creatures, and even if we do not really know the intrigue yet, it is clear that there is not much peace these days in Pandora. “We cannot live like that, in hatred,” said Jake.
But the problems come from a few sides for Jake and Co. in “Fire & Ash”. Human invaders as usual are a major threat to Pandora in the existential sense, as well as the former soldier / nasty of NA’VI Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) is a constant spine by their side. And while the ASH looks really cool, they are completely indebted when our heroes take place on the rage and ardent antagonists.
“Your goddess has no domination here”, growls the leader of the people of ashes, Varang (Oona Chaplin).
Saldaña teased that “Fire & Ash” is “different from everything the public has ever seen and exactly what they want”.
