Sporting their distinctive red outfit, the AIDS / Life cycle The runners made the Santa Maria trek in Lompoc on Thursday while the event marks its last year.
The journey of 545 miles, co -spared by San Francisco Aids Foundation and the LGBT center in Los Angelesstarted on Sunday in San Francisco and ends on Saturday with the Festival of the finish line in Santa Monica.
The event includes 2,500 cyclists plus 600 volunteer routes with the theme of the “Red Dress Day” Thursday involving runners with matching outfit, including many tutus.
The cyclists entered the county of Santa Barbara on Wednesday, camping at Preisker Park at the northern end of Santa Maria.
After spending the night in the Riverbend park in Lompoc, the cyclists will travel south on Friday, stopping for lunch in the Santa Barbara region and will spend the night at San Buenaventura state beach in Ventura.
The organizers announced in September that the 30 -year history of fundraising which has lifted more than $ 300 million, as well as awareness of HIV and AIDS, would end in the journey in 2025 after having judged it financially unsustainable.
They blamed the production costs more arrows the drop in traffic and fundraising.
