The list of recalled food products being high in class I (the highest level of recall) by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to grow. This time, the organization updated the classic recall of the potato crustles from its lay to class I. The Croustilles were already recalled last December due to an undeclared milk allergen.
“Frito-Lay has published today a reminder of a limited number of 13 oz of conventional lay bags of Lay which can contain uncomplicated milk, after being alerted by a contact of consumers. Those of allergy or D ‘A severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or fatal allergic reaction if they consume the product recalled “” Read an announcement made by the FDA on December 16.
The affected bags of chips, which are no longer on store shelves, have been distributed to certain retail stores and electronic commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. They have a “Fresh Guarantee” date of February 11, 2025 and one of the following two manufacturing codes: 6462307XX or 6463307XX.
In the initial recall, consumers who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk have been informed not to consume the product and to throw it immediately.
Several other products have been raised to class I since the FDA this month. These products include the smoked salmon from Kirkland Signature de Costco and the Broccoli Fleurons in Walmart markets.
Class I is the highest level of risk awarded by the FDA and which means that there is a very serious risk of death. According to the organization’s website, class I is described as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use or exposure to a violating product will result in serious consequences or the death of health.”
