Earlier this year, the decorated ex-skipper was sentenced to two years in prison by a French court for having pretended to use business assets during his mandate as president of the Narbonne club between 2015 and 2016.
He was also sentenced to a fine of 100,000 euros ($ 172,346 A), with half of the suspended sum.
Elsom was tried for allegedly hijacked club funds by carrying out unjustified expenses to pay a coach or managing director who lived in Australia at the time.
