Mel Kiper has been an element of the ESPN coverage of the NFL draft for more than four decades and has built a brand as an expert at first instance of the “Worldwide Leader”.
But despite its curriculum vitae, a certain number of NFL fans have been scandalized by its apparently incessant fixation on a particular hope project: the quarter-back of Colorado Deion Sanders.
The quarter-tree is a big name. The son of the renowned temple Daion Sanders had a strong university career and many prompted him to be a first choice in the first round on Thursday evening.
But over the evening, Sanders fell more and more in the draft boards. At the end of the procedure, he had still not been selected.
Kiper and ESPN regularly mentioned the name of Sanders throughout the night – even when the teams who selected did not need his services – and at the end, the experts were disconcerted.
When the New York Giants exchanged the draft to take a quarter-Arrière, many fans thought they would select Sanders. Kiper and his colleagues analysts thought the same.

Sanders, formerly considered a choice among the 3, fell from the first round of the NFL draft this year
Instead, they selected the quarter-Arrière Jaxson Dart d’Ole Miss.
An exasperated kiper predicted: “Sheder Sanders will return to haunt these organizations”.
It is not only a blow to the Giants, but also the other teams who need a quarter-Arrière like the Browns of Cleveland and the Steelers of Pittsburgh.
At the end of the night, social media was filled with people calling for Kiper to be removed from programs or to shoot everything.
“Mel Kiper should be dismissed immediately for this s ** t,” said a user on X, formerly Twitter. “Suffering the dart because it was chosen from the shaoder (sic) is crazy.
Another said, “This is the first year when I really think Mel Kiper needs to retire. His sockets are terrible today.
“ESPN needs to fire Mel Kiper … Bro therefore out of contact, it’s not even funny,” said another user.
The veteran sports writer Pat Forde joked, saying: “Need a well-being verification on Mel Kiper. The only person Madder at the moment on the fact that SheDer is not chosen is his father.

NFL fans have underlined Kiper’s obsession for the quarter, saying that he should be dismissed for this
Kiper, 64, appeared in the annual coverage of the ESPN project every year since 1984.
During the 41 years, he covered the project, Kiper has already teased his retirement – once linked to his career to the success of a perspective.
In the draft of the 2010 NFL, Kiper was at the top of Notre Dame Jimmy Clausen – classifying him as the fourth best hope of all the draft.
After Clausen fell to the Carolina Panthers with the 48th choice that year, Kiper said: “If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterrier in the NFL, I finished. That’s it. I came out.
Clausen started 10 games with the Panthers during his recruited season – launching only 1,558 yards and having a touched interception report of 3: 9.
The Panthers finished the season with the worst League record and drafted Cam Newton with the first global choice in 2011.
Clausen’s career ended with only 2,520 yards in total, seven affected and 14 interceptions. After his recruit season, he only started four games in total in five seasons.
However, Kiper stayed at the ESPN office for the next 15 years.
