The bathroom has been designed to be accessible in a wheelchair, so it will work for Vassell – or the Porères – if their mobility changes.
“We really want this house to stay in the family,” said Lexi. “People don’t do this these days. But I really have the impression that, with the prices of the houses and the way they go, it will become more normal, especially when you have invested so much money in your house like us.”
“We always say, even when Nana left one day, my husband and I could end up moving into what is now Nana’s house, and perhaps one of the girls will want to take control of our house,” she said. “We will certainly not okay, but let the door open to explore.”
The hope of the poers that they could transmit the house to their daughters are also part of the reason why they did not build a separate guest house, which could have given the property a higher resale value than a connected house. They wanted to create the future that worked for them, not a potential buyer.
“We have no desire to move again, and my husband and I would be very satisfied to live in these 1000 square feet once the girls came out of the house,” added Poer.
