The fake Belgian timber seller pretended to be the Plouguerneau box – Plouguerneau

In Brittany, as in Belgium, it’s time for a scramble for firewood. Also, when in Ollignies, located halfway between Lille and Brussels, Myriam Desmet discovers on Facebook the offer of a certain company La Bûche Eco, she reacts just as dry. At 40 € per stere, decreasing price, such a case does not let pass.

The details that annoy

Via the messaging, she gets in touch with the seller, a bit suspicious all the same. But the answer is well formulated, without any spelling mistakes, and reassures this company director. The next day, the order email, on the other hand, “tilts” several times. The fuchsia pink used for customer information, already. And these details, on the method of payment: “You simply have to go to a tobacconist or a hypermarket, get a Neosurf ticket (anonymous payment with barcode, Editor’s note) worth 200 euros and send us a photo to our email address ”. “With us, there are no tobacconists, cigarettes can be bought in bookstores or supermarkets! And besides, we do not say hypermarket, ”notes the Walloon.

In Belgium and on other local pages

A trip on the web will allow him to find the trace of the company La Bûche Eco, installed in Plouguerneau (29). Its logo matches the one seen on the Facebook ad, such as photos of delivery trucks. But when she calls the company, the company, of course, has never emailed him. “I found the same ad on the Facebook page of a Grenoble group. I reported it as a scam to Facebook, ”announces Myriam Desmet.

In Plouguerneau, this form of fraud is only a half-surprise for Raphaël Moal, manager of La Bûche éco. “Last year, I had already been informed of a fake company which pretended to be me, with my logo and even my postal address on the internet. Customers had ordered there but received nothing. And this week, rebelote, but via Facebook: several customers called me to ask me when their delivery arrived, while I had no trace of their order! “.

“Little wind of panic” in homes

According to Raphaël Moal, these scam attempts would be facilitated by the tension currently affecting the firewood market. “There is a slight wind of panic, after many stories about a wood shortage in the media for two months. As a result, some are ordering when they have huge stocks and others cannot find it for this winter. Us, it’s simple: we have nothing left before February ”.

Suffice to say that it is better to keep your cool when lots of wood circulate on the Internet at unbeatable prices.
