At least four people died and two are missing after an explosion in a mine in northern Spain, according to officials.
The explosion occurred at the Cerredo mine in Degaña, Asturias, about 450 km (278 miles) northwest of Madrid around 9:30 am, local time (08:30 BST).
Local emergency services said they had been called upon for a “problem with a machine” at mine.
At least three others were injured and a search is underway for the missing workers. Ambulances, fire and rescue services were sent to the scene.
The mining rescue brigade also deployed its canine unit.
The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez sent his condolences to the families of the victims.
