Tehran, Iran (AP) – The number of wounded on an explosion on Saturday in a port in southern Iran has increased to 281, reported the state -managed news agency managed by the State.
Irna quoted Mojtaba Khaledi, the spokesperson for the Iranian national emergency organization, as giving the figure.
The explosion occurred at the Rajaei port just outside Bandar Abbas, a large installation for container shipments for the Islamic Republic which manages around 80 million tonnes (72.5 million metric tonnes) of goods per year.
Social media videos showed black smoke smoke after the explosion. Others have shown that blown glass in the km buildings (miles) of the epicenter of the explosion.
The authorities have not yet offered any cause for the explosion. Industrial accidents occur in Iran, in particular in its aging oil installations which fight to access pieces under international sanctions. But the Iranian state television specifically excluded any energy infrastructure as causing or damaged in the explosion.
Mehrdad Hasanzadeh, a provincial disaster management manager, said on Iranian state television that the first stakeholders were trying to join the region while others were trying to evacuate the site.
Hasanzadeh said the explosion came from containers from the port of Rajaei in the city, without developing. State television also pointed out that there had been a collapse of the building caused by the explosion, although there were no other immediate details offered.
The port of Rajaei is approximately 1,050 kilometers (652 miles) south-east of the Iranian capital, Tehran, on the Hormuz Strait, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf through which 20% of all the commercial oil passes.
The explosion occurred as Iran and the United States met on Saturday in Oman For the third series of negotiations on the Nuclear Nuclear in advance of Tehran.
