At 71, Debbie Leahy does not challenge age – she rewrites what it means to be in good shape after 70 years.
The Gold Coast’s grandmother won the title of the 71-year-old woman and prepares to face the world at the Hyrox 2025 world championships in Chicago in June.
But his journey to global competition is not easy. Debbie’s routine would even have challenged the 20th more fit.
To participate in Hyrox, a global indoor fitness competition, Debbie undertakes exhausting training sessions.
His workouts include a bike up to 250 kilometers in a single day, mentons, land raising and 4 kg medicine ball slams.
She also trains with rowing machines, completes farmers’ ranges and regularly performs wall balls and sandbags.

“It was a fitness trip, I guess,” Debbie told the Today Show.
“I am still interested and I have been in the fitness industry for over 30 years.”
Hyrox is not an ordinary event. It combines eight cycles of kilometers with eight demanding functional training stations.
Participants face exercises like skierg, sled sleds and prints, wide jumps from Burpee, Avirons and more.
Founded in Germany in 2017, Hyrox has grown rapidly around the world and now attracts thousands of competitors in several divisions.
Debbie discovered sport by friends.
“Some friends have mentioned this Hyrox, this new phenomenon that occurs, so I thought I would try-and here,” she said.
“It’s just great about the way it is removed. It’s hard to believe.

Despite her age, Debbie is not only participating – she dominates.
“My world ranking is fourth,” she revealed.
“I was amazed when I also discovered this. I hope I can get this some notches in Chicago.
His inspiring efforts have earned generalized admiration.
One of his training videos recently reached an audience of 4.5 million on Instagram.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Debbie. “All comments, I would open my phone every time I watched and I probably have eight to 10, if not more, followers or likes.”
“It’s great to be able to inspire people, especially when I do training sessions at the gymnasium. I have a lot of young people to come and say that I am an inspiration for them.

She is also a survivor of breast cancer – a challenge which she calls “a little hiccup”.
“I was in the fitness industry before it happens,” she said. “I think it’s something that made me pass, my physical form.
“I tell people, it can happen to anyone. But it was just a little hiccup and I crossed it and I got out on the other side.
