Leeds United rushed to defend the captain of the Ethan Ampadu club after a controversial photo emerged from his son wearing a Galatasaray kit.
Two fans, Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, were killed before the Club UEFA Cup’s semi-finals against Galatasaray in Istanbul in 2000 and supporters still have a bad feeling to the club.
But yesterday, the ex-girlfriend of Ampadu Saara SA published an image of their child in the Kit of the Turkish club on X.
Leeds fans criticized the defender with some calling for the captain after the images circulated on social networks.
“He should no longer be our club captain,” wrote a fan on X: “The club captain should be more in the face with something like that.”
Leeds said they were aware of the image but that the 24 -year -old had his “full support”.

In a press release, the club said: “Leeds United is aware of an online image of Ethan Ampadu’s son.
“Ethan separated from his partner several months ago and has no responsibility for the image in question. Ethan is aware and sensitive to tragic loss within Loftus and Speight families.
“The club asks that Ethan’s privacy be respected in what is a difficult period for him personally. Our captain was a leader on and off the field this season, demonstrating his commitment to the club, his history and the wider community of Leeds. Ethan has the full support of everyone at Leeds United.
“The club will not make any other comments.
Ampadu received the captain of Leeds before this season and attended a number of events to commemorate the death of Loftus and Speight.
He was one of the players who laid shirts and flowers in front of Leeds fans, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the tragedy, when they faced Luton to Kenilworth Road in April.

Ampadu joined Leeds in 2023 after the Yorkshire Club was relegated to the Premier League.
He had spent eight years at Exeter City Academy before moving to Chelsea in 2017 at the age of 16.
That year, he made his international debut for Wales and has since made 54 appearances for the team of Craig Bellamy.
But he only made 12 calls for the Blues and was sent on loan to Sheffield United, RB Leipzig, Venezia and Spezia during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
The loss of Kevin Speight and Christopher Loftus 25 years ago always feels incredibly deeply and the animosity between the two clubs remains.
Fans of Leeds and Galatasaray clashed in violent scenes on April 5, 2000 instead of Taksim in Istanbul.
After the two tragic deaths, local police arrested and charged four supporters of murder Galatasaray.
Galatasaray fans were prohibited from attending the second boss at Elland Road, in the semi-finals won by the Turkish team, who won the competition.
