The evening of Ryan Leonard with Alex Ovechkin in Boston becomes viral before the beginnings of the NHL: “Ovi wanted to see where I went to school”

But while capital fans waited with a breath for the news of Leonard’s contract, the team’s players were well aware of what was going on and immediately planned to spend time with their new recruit teammate before even officially signed. For a team that frequently invokes their “power of friendship” to return late in the matches, assimilating Leonard on the club was the number one priority.

“Yeah, (Alex Ovechkin) sent me a text earlier during the day and just asked me if I wanted to get sushi once they landed,” Leonard in Mike Vogel told Capitals.

However, Leonard admitted that the message had come at a chaotic moment.

“I read (the text) in the locker room (tale Arena),” noted Leonard, the real location he put the pen on paper on his new affair. “All the guys were in there. It was probably five to 10 minutes before signing.”

Leonard’s Eagles teammates urged caution by responding to the text, because it comes from an unknown number with the sender claiming to be Alex Ovechkin – one of the biggest hockey players who have five goals to break the NHL goal record. Maybe it could be a scam or a joke of fools in early April.

“They were like:” What? ” I don’t know if you should answer this, “said Leonard. “I said to myself:” I have to do it a little. ” It was pretty cool.

Once Leonard has finished making his NHL dream a reality, he made the 15 -minute journey to meet the capital in a sushi bar in the Boston region, exchange stories and rub the players from the best team of the Eastern Conference.

“I hang out with these guys, it was pretty cool,” said Leonard.

But eating raw fish was not all on the menu.

“Ovi wanted to see where I went to school, then (we) probably went there 30 minutes at an hour, just to show it, and he loved it,” said Leonard.

The viral videos published on social networks also revealed that the visit to the impromptu campus later included a stop in the local water hole on Chestnut Hill Avenue, the Tircle Tavern, better known for its pizza and drinks. Leonard was there with the capitals and some of his teammates from the Boston College.

During their stay, Ovechkin was filmed while singing in the new goal song by Jakob Chychrun, “Bandz a Make Her Dance”, while the hockey players laughed and danced at the bar.

Caps / Eagles videos come together were widely shared online.

“Just to go dinner with these guys and meet all these guys, I really try to kiss the moment and spend quality time with these guys,” said Leonard. “Not much time, you can dine with one of the grown -ups, so yes, just trying to kiss her.”

On Tuesday, Leonard practiced with the capital for the first time and confirmed that he would make his debut in the NHL against his hometown team, Boston’s Bruins, TD Garden.

Leonard’s arrival created a show after training because he was assaulted by the media.

When asked if he appreciated some of the spotlight on someone else, Ovechkin said to the press: “I think we all like this moment. You appreciate it, fans appreciate it. So how I say, play, play, enjoy and enjoy this situation. ”
