An official confirmed that the additions to the conclusions of the proposed council had been drawn in exchange for Slovakia by removing his objections to the global text.

An agreement of several billion dollars between Russia and Ukraine which allowed Moscow to pump fuel in the country expired at the end of the year. The FICO has always pushed its renewal and accused the EU of not supporting its requests, while threatening to reduce essential electricity exports.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who attends the summit in person in Brussels, previously excluded a recovery and said that European countries must realize that Moscow is not a reliable energy supplier.

“We are not going to extend the transit of Russian gas,” said the Ukrainian president before the threshold. “We do not allow them to earn additional billions on our blood.”
