New Orleans (AP) – Cooper Dejean, Josh Sweat and the fierce defense of the Eagles of Philadelphia denied Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the heads of Kansas City a Super Bowl with three peat.
It was not even close.
Dejean obtained a Pick-6 at its 22nd anniversary, Sweat tormented Mahomes and the Eagles rout the 40-22 chiefs on Sunday to guarantee the second championship of the Franchise Super Bowl.
Jalen Hurts launched two affected and ran for a score on a tash push, and the defense of Vic Fangio was so dominant that the Eagles did not need a lot of Saquon Barkley.
The ball carrier changing the game ended with 57 yards, beating the Terrell Davis record for the yards in one season, the qualifying series included. Hurts threw 221 yards.
With Donald Trump becoming the first president in power to attend a Super Bowl, the Eagles outstripped Kansas City in each facet, delighting a noisy pro-Philly crowd that celebrated each score with a familiar interpretation of “Fly!” Eagles! Fly!”
Even the presence of Taylor Swift could not help the chiefs. They lost for the first time in 10 games this season with the pop superstar in a suite by watching the boyfriend Travis Kelce, who did not catch a pass before the end of the third quarter.
Not in the worst nightmares of Kansas City, his fans could have imagined such a dull performance. The chiefs had won three of the five previous super bowls, losing 31-9 against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay four years ago.
Mahomes was 8-0 against the defenses of Fangio before the longtime coordinator and former head coach of the Broncos exceeded Andy Reid, caping his first season with his hometown team. Reid fell at 3-3 in Super Bowls, including loss with Eagles.
The Eagles have dismissed Mahomes six times, most of his career, including 2 1/2 per sweaty. And they did it without Fangio calling a single blitz.
Barkley, the attacking player of the year of the AP NFL 2024, had only 31 yards on the ground in the first half when Philly built an advance of 24-0.
The chiefs aimed to become the third team in the history of the NFL to win three consecutive championships and the first to three peat in the era of the Super Bowl.
Hurts almost led the Eagles to the victory against the chiefs two years ago in Arizona, but Mahomes led a return and Harrison Bustker launched the winning basket in the last minute for a 38-35 victory. Mahomes joined Kansas City to an extension victory against San Francisco last year for the second consecutive title of the Chiefs.
This time, a philly defense overhauled with eight new starters from the 2022 team made sure that Mahomas had no chance of withdrawing his magic.
The coach of the Eagles, Nick Sirianni, who made fun of fans chanting “Fire Nick!” During a victory over Cleveland in October and was called “clown” on national television, should finally silence criticism by adding a championship ring to a curriculum vitae which includes the fifth best percentage of victories in the history of The League.
Sirianni was showered by Gatorade with almost three minutes in the match while the backup QB Kenny Pickett took snaps in degradation service.
Barkley helped push Hurts in the goal area of the 1 to give Philadelphia an advance from 7-0 to the first quarter.
UP 10-0 after the 48 yoke basket by Jake Elliott, Sweat and Jalyx Hunt shaped Mahomes on consecutive games. Mahomes then took place and made a wandering launch which was chosen by Dejean, who returned it to 38 yards for an advance of 17-0.

After two weeks of discussions on questionable calls that led to the perception of the public that civil servants promote the chiefs – a theoretical commissioner Roger Goodell called “ridiculous” – the first penalty of the game only fueled criticism.
A pass of 32 yards from Hurts to Brown to Chiefs 18 in fourth and 2 was denied by a penalty for interference of offensive pass. Brady, now Fox analyst, and analyst officiating Mike Pereira did not agree with the call, although Brown pushed the McDuffie Mask.
On the following possession, the Eagles benefited from an unnecessary roughness penalty on McDufuffie against Dallas Goedert following an incomplete pass in third and 5.
Houts was then connected with Jahan Dotson on a pass of 27 yards at 1 and marked the following game.
The sequence of 217 Hurts passes without choice ended in the first half when it was intercepted deeply in the territory of Kansas City, but the chiefs are not capitalized.
Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team to win three row championships, making it 1929-31 and 1965-67.
The Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA from 2000 to 02, led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neill, are the last team of the main American professional leagues to win three consecutive titles.
