The Dodgers launcher Dustin May revealed that he needed an emergency surgical intervention last July for an injury to an “ jerral accident ” that he had suffered by dinner.
May, who was still recovering from a flexor tendon and Tommy John review surgery, which he suffered during the 2023 season, was getting closer to the field when the disaster struck.
During dinner on July 10, May would have ordered a salad and had stuck a piece of lettuce in her throat – taking him to take a sip of water to try to wash it.
However, the emergency launcher underwent a tear in his esophagus and said that he felt a feeling of “mega-painting” in his throat and his stomach, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
After going home and thought he was fine, his wife urged him to go to the emergency room, where the doctors quickly put him in surgery.
The procedure, which the 27 -year -old man called “fundamentally a complete abdominal surgery”, left him a large scar and a six -month recovery calendar that did not see him throw again before November.

May is now trying to go back and win a place on the Dodgers opening list
“It was definitely an event that changes life,” said May on Friday during the Dodgers spring training. “It was really very serious. It is not very common surgery. It was definitely an emergency.
He continued later: “It gives me a little different point of view on many things in life. Simply seeing how something if not linked to the non -basall ball can be like – it can be gone in a second. And the things that it put through my wife, it definitely gave me (a feeling) of: “Wow, the things can change like that.” It was really very scary.
May missed the rest of the 2024 Dodgers season after undergoing surgery, although he added that he would probably not have survived without the procedure.
Then won the World Series without him, beating the Yankees in the last stage.
May is now fighting for a place in the list of dodgers as he tries to put the frightening energy behind him.
In 191.2 rounds launched for Los Angeles, he had an impressive MPM of 3.10 and 8.2 stick withdraws by nine sleeves.
