Arlington, Texas – Maybe it was simply a vow for the brass of Los Angeles Dodgers to talk about having so much pitch depth on the deadline for trade that they would be sellers. The pitch depth has a way to lighten. And memories of the injury problems of the Dodgers a year ago rushed on Sunday afternoon, when Tyler Glasnow left his departure against the Texas Rangers after 52 throws with what seemed to be an injury.
The team later announced that Glasnow faced low -for -for -the -sided cramps. The Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the 1-0 victory of his team that he does not expect Glasnow to miss at any time – a potential catastrophe avoided.
Glasnow did not allow you to run when he bent his leg into fourth round before facing the Rangers outflow, Dustin Harris. He expelled his leg when he delivered two -strike land in the BAT, and attracted the visit of the manager Dave Roberts and the athletic coach Thomas Albert after having withdrawn Harris with a curve ball. Glasnow insisted that he was fine, removing Josh Jung on a quick ball to end the sleeve.
He lasted only one throw, delivering a quick bullet of 93.7 MPH before Roberts returned to the mound accompanied by Albert and the launcher coach Mark Prior. He seemed to point to his right ankle, moving him before going out. The cramps extended to the two calves, said a frustrated Glasnow, which makes it difficult to push the mound without modifying its mechanics.

The Dodgers managed to hold without him, with Luis GarcÃa, the recruits Ben Casparius and Jack Dreyer, Evan Phillips and Tanner Scott combining to finish the bleaching in a 1-0 victory against Texas.
Glasnow delighted all spring on how he felt physically after missing the race of the World Series Dodgers in October. He abandoned his weighted ball program in favor of a more rigorous long -term regime. A large part of his training sessions were centered on the addition of athletics when it is delivery in the hope that this would remove the stress of his elbow. He did not show any harmful effect of the stride elbow which ended his season in August.
But another familiar problem arose on Sunday. Glasnow’s cramps were somewhat frequent, especially on April 30, 2024, when he left a start in Toronto in the seventh round with cramps in his right hand and in his calf.
“It happens sporadically,” said Glasnow. “It’s not like a thing of fatigue. I tested the hydration. I don’t really know why it continues.
The cramps were not discharged again in 2024 after the start of Toronto, perhaps an encouraging sign.
“I don’t know if it was a combination of pickle and water juice or anything, but it did not show his head after that in Toronto,” said Roberts. “So I hope it’s a unique event.”
Sunday nevertheless presented a fear.
“He is dealing with things and sometimes he seems to be something different,” said Roberts. “But it is not for lack of desire. I am sure that no one is more frustrated than him. Especially when you launch well.”
Glasnow has an MPM of 3.71 at four departures. He launched from the 134 most career rounds in 22 career departures in 2024, the first season of a new nine -figure extension which he signed after the Dodgers acquired him from Tampa Bay Rays during the previous off -season.
The Dodgers are already without double laureate of the Cy Young Award Blake Snell, who made the list of the injured this month with inflammation of the left shoulder. Snell launched its first session of enclosure of the lifts since then on Saturday and said it feels good. He and Roberts both seemed confident Snell could return without an assignment of rehabilitation.
“I just want to launch,” said Snell on Saturday. “Am I worried about it? No. I’m worried when I went on Il but more. It is much better.”
The Dodgers also avoided the worst on Saturday with the Blake Treinen lifter, whose MRI has shown what Roberts called a “low quality” sprain in its forearm. Dodgers hope that Treinen will avoid medical intervention, opting for rest and rehabilitation for the moment.
“I would say that we are in the dodged category of a bullet,” said Roberts.
The pitch depth of the dodgers is already thinner than it seemed on paper. Landon Knack, Justin Wrobleski and Bobby Miller combined to authorize 21 points in 16 2/3 cash rounds this season. Tony Gonsolin always returns to a back injury; So far it has built in its rehabilitation mission. Clayton Kershaw will not be ready before the end of May at the earliest. Emmet Sheehan will not be an option before at least this time. And the dodgers were deliberate with the rehabilitation of pitching Shohei Ohtani from a second reconstruction of the major ligament of the elbow.
They can be grateful that they still avoided the worst on Sunday.
