Celebrities pay tribute to Val Kilmer after his death at 65 on Tuesday.
His daughter confirmed to the New York Times that pneumonia was the cause of the death of the actor.
Kilmer has already been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but recovered. However, due to a tracheotomy, his voice was permanent damaged.
He was known for his roles in “Top Gun” of 1986, “The Doors” of 1991, and “Batman Forever” in 1995.
After the news of the death of Kilmer, celebrity friends and colleagues shared their reactions on social networks.
Francis Ford Coppola worked with Kilmer on the 2011 horror film “Twixt”.
“Val Kilmer was the most talented actor when in his high school, and this talent only growed throughout his life. She was a wonderful person with whom to work and a joy of knowing – I will always remember him,” wrote the filmmaker on Instagram.

“Valus will miss you, you were funny, crazy, pain in the ass, great friend, children ♥ U, brilliant like Mark Twain, courageous here during your illness,” wrote the singer “believe” in an article on X, using her nickname for the actor.
In 2021, she told people that Kilmer and she had nicknames for each other.

“By working with Val on ‘Heat’, I have always amazed by the range, the brilliant variability in the powerful current of Val having and expressing the character. After so many years of Val’s disease and to maintain his mind, it is a new sad,” wrote filmmaker Michael Mann in his legend.
Mann worked with Kilmer in the 1995 criminal cinema “Heat”, which also featured Robert Deniro and Al Pacino.
“A nice, curious, committed, rebellious and radical gent gent. I learned from one of the grown -ups. An artist from start to finish. I cherished my time with you,” wrote the star of “White Lotus” in his legend. “Bodpeed Buddy.”
Josh Gad, better known for having expressed Olaf in Disney’s “Frozen” franchise and for having played Brother Arnold Cunningham in the Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon”, shared a tribute to Kilmer on Instagram with a photo of the star of “Top Gun”.
“Rip Val Kilmer. Thank you for defining so many films from my childhood. You were really an icon,” wrote Gad in his legend.
“Rip Val Kilmer. If it was not for our fortuitous meeting at the 1985 source, I might never have been thrown in Full Metal Jacket. Thank you, Val,” Matthew Modine, who also played in “Stranger Things”, wrote on X.
The accompaniment of the Modine post was a video telling how his bunching kilrr in a restaurant on Sunset boulevard sparked a chain of events that finally led to him to be sneak in “Full Metal Jacket” by Stanley Kubrick.
In the 1993 film, Kilmer embodies the American Outlaw Doc Holliday.
