NEW YORK – A cybercrime team stolen, then sold more than 900 digital tickets for Taylor Swift concerts and other expensive events on Stubhub, according to New York prosecutors.

International scam involved people working in Jamaica for a company contracted by the online ticket market, the Queens District Prosecutor Melinda Katz said on Monday.
Entrepreneurs stole the URLs of tickets bought on Stubhub and sent them by email to others in New York, who then downloaded them and sold on Stubhub at exorbitant prices, she said.
The crew collected more than $ 600,000 in profits over about one year between June 2022 and July 2023, according to prosecutors.
The majority of stolen tickets were for the ERA tour of Swift, but the thieves also increased those of the concerts of Adele and Ed Sheeran, the NBA games and the open American tennis championships.

Katz added that investigators still determine the extent of the operation, including other potential co-conspirators.
Two of the people involved, Tyrone Rose and Shamara Simmons, were arrested and charged last Thursday with Grand Larcin, computer falsification and conspiracy, said Katz’s office.
Rose, 20, was one of those of Jamaica who reoriented tickets bought for the emails of Simmons, 31 years old, and another accomplice based in the New York district of Queens, according to the prosecutors.
Rose was apprehended during his visit to New York and was sentenced to making his passport, Katz’s office announced on Tuesday. He and Simmons pleaded not guilty and were released while waiting for their next audience date on Friday.
The Public Defender Office Representing Rose refused to comment, and Simmons’ lawyers did not immediately respond on Tuesday.

Stubhub said on Tuesday that he had discovered the criminal program and reported it to the authorities and its third -party customer service provider.
The company said that it had since ended its relationship with the seller and strengthened its security measures. Until now, all ticket orders identified as affected by the flight have also been replaced or fully reimbursed, according to Stubhub.
