The crews recover more victims as efforts continue after the deadly collision of helicopter

Washington (7news) – The United States crews and rescuers have recovered more victims of the Potomac river following an outdoor deadly accident that killed at least 60 people in Washington, DC, a press conference announced on Sunday.

The United States officials held a press conference to provide updates on recovery efforts following the fatal accident. Look at the full press conference here.

Wednesday evening, an American Airlines plane filled with passengers approached a track at Ronald Reagan National Airport when he collided with a Black Hawk military helicopter, sending at least 60 people in the Potomac river without survivors. A camera of the Kennedy Center building captured what seemed to be an explosion of an plane descending on the track.

Since Wednesday’s crash, research and rescue operations have been underway, officials announced at the press conference. The crews and rescuers of several agencies worked to lift the fallen plane and its wreck in the river, in search of more victims. During their operations, officials said that more victims had been found and were taken to the medical examiner’s office. At least 55 victims were identified from the plane crash, officials said.

While research operations were underway, a diver from the Metropolitan Police Department suffered from hypothermia and was transported to a local hospital to be examined, officials said.

On Monday morning, the crews will continue their work in the lifting of the plane and more wrecks in the river, officials said. The teams will continue to search the shores at the bottom of the river because they expect certain debris to be dragged in the current. Officials ask those who find or see wrecks to report it to the police.
