The County of Los Angeles announced that it had reached a provisional regulation of $ 4 billion covering more than 6,800 sexual abuse complaints, some dating from the 1950s, according to a county statement published on Friday morning.
The regulations would be the most expensive in the history of the county and will have an impact on budgets for years, even decades, to come, according to the press release.
The gigantic regulations can continue after the approval of the supervisors’ board and the ComtĂ© de la.
The agreement would solve most of the complaints filed against the county under AB 218. This initiative has given up the limitation period on cases of sexual abuse and created a three -year window to allow victims of infantile sexual abuse to present their allegations.
An independent team of allocation experts would examine all cases, said the county.
“On behalf of the county, I apologize wholeheartedly to all those who were injured by these reprehensible acts,” said Fesia Davenport, Managing Director. “The historical scope of these regulations clearly indicates that we are committed to helping survivors to recover and rebuild their lives – and to bring and apply the systemic changes necessary to ensure the safety of young people.”
The majority of complaints date from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s and would have taken place in the installations of the Probation Service and the Maclaren Children’s Center.
