The continued sale of “semi-automatic weapons is bizarre”

During the September 18 airing of CBS News 60 mins, President Joe Biden has called the continued sale of semi-automatic weapons “bizarre”.

Scott Pelley conducted an extensive interview with Biden, but when he turned to guns and gun politics, Biden once again pledged to ban “assault weapons.”

Biden suggested that “there’s no reason” to own firearms like AR-15s, AK-47s, etc.

He spoke of his visit to Uvalde, Texas, after the May 24, 2022, school shooting, saying he hadn’t just visited there, but “every one of those places.”

Biden observed, “The NRA continuing to push the sale of assault and semi-automatic weapons is bizarre.”

On Aug. 26, 2022, Breitbart News noted that Biden had renewed his pledge to ban “assault weapons” if Democrats were able to hang onto Congress after November’s midterm elections.

The Washington Post quoted Biden as saying, “I want to be crystal clear on what’s on the ballot this year… Your right to choose is on the ballot this year. The social security you have paid since you took up employment is listed on the ballot. The safety of our children from gun violence is on the ballot.

He later added, “If we elect two more senators, we keep the House…we’re going to settle a lot of unfinished business.”

Biden pointed out that banning “assault weapons” was part of the unfinished business of Democrats.
