Some officers hired in the past two years have been summoned to a place far from the agency’s head office in Langley, Virginia, and have asked to return their references to security personnel, according to three people informed of layoffs.

A spokesperson for the agency has confirmed that some officers hired in the past two years have been dismissed.
Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, the classification democrat of the Senate Intelligence, said that the reports that newly hired agents were dislocated and “would undermine our national security”.
