With his reading club, Oprah Winfrey highlights fascinating stories, universal struggles and, of course, authors who deserve a little more attention. With his latest selection, while we all know who is the author, their book will make us see them in a whole new light.
On April 22, Winfrey announced that her latest choice was the mother of Beyoncé and Solange Tina Knowles, Matron.

“I’m just delighted to tell you about the next selection of the Oprah reading club,” said Winfrey on Instagram. “I tell you, I started reading in the galleys and I couldn’t put it down. I was so impressed that I all wanted you to know too Matron by Miss Tina Knowles.
Winfrey then gave a brief summary of the story of Knowles. “Starting with her life as a young girl in the 1950s, Matron Demand how Tina surmounts so many growing obstacles in a separate Galveston, in Texas, to continue her dreams far beyond everything that society expected from a young woman, “she said.
“You will want to erase your schedule, I tell you, when you start this book, because you will be completely riveted by the twists and turns of this deeply personal and convincing story,” said Winfrey.

For Tina, Winfrey’s support is very special. “When I heard her voice (on the phone), I cried!” Knowles said in an episode of the Winfrey podcast, Oprah reading club: presented by Starbucks. “I have such a rich story with Oprah.”
“Writing a book on your life is a frightening thing,” admitted Knowles. “It’s almost like having a baby. It is so personal and sacred for you that you want people to love him and never say anything wrong about it. Obtaining the Oprah approval seal, and knowing that she has read it and loved it, did it all.
“I am told that my book would be a choice for his reading club, I thought I died and that I went to paradise,” added Knowles.
