American consumers have started to flock these applications in recent days following many Tiktok videos of Chinese manufacturers explaining how much of the luxury products market operates outside China. Videos say that many products from the best luxury brands – such as clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories – are actually made in China. The items are then shipped to the brand’s country of origin, such as Italy or France, where they are reconditioned after applying the brand’s label, according to these videos.
Other creators of American and Chinese Tiktok then underlined electronic commerce applications such as DHGATE and TAOBAO as a way to buy directly from Chinese manufacturers, renouncing the huge increase that luxury brands invoice.
Already starting the growing prices of popular applications like Shein and Temu, American consumers quickly started to download these alternatives.
