The chief of chefs says that Steak and Rice is a popular breakfast among players

  • The Kansas City chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl today.
  • The executive chief of chefs, Erin Wishon, said that a popular breakfast among players is steak and rice.
  • Recent studies suggest that consumption of 0.7 grams of protein by body weight book is ideal for maximizing resistance gains.

Kansas City chiefs are playing in the Super Bowl today, and their food and nutrition team has worked to feed them to succeed.

In an interview with Us Weekly, the executive chief of chefs Erin Wishon talked about the type of meal that players eat at the head of the big game.

“I think something that people could find surprising is that there are a lot of steak and rice for breakfast,” chiefs told Us Weekly. “We have a few players who eat two steaks – 12 ounce nets – and rice at breakfast. And then sometimes at lunch.”

The meal is nutritious and very satisfactory, Wishon told Business Insider in a statement.

“Steak, in particular a net of lean beef fillet, provides high levels of protein, iron, vitamin B12 and healthy fats. Associated with rice, which offers fast carbohydrates, this combination is a meal Very satiant, especially for those who have a skinny food diet, “said Wishon.

In addition to steak and rice, The other dishes regularly prepared for the team include burnt salmon, dutan, broccoli and Teriyaki chicken thighs, she said.

“Of course, the comforting foods of the house such as fried chicken, cheese macaroni, Alfredo chicken, meat bread and lasagna also remain popular choices,” said Wishon.

After working with players for so long, Wishon says that his team becomes familiar with their taste buds.

“We are with them three or four meals a day, six or seven days a week for six months and more of the year. We know what they want. Whether it is a special condiment or a vegetable cake brand, anything.

The chiefs will face the Eagles of Philadelphia on Sunday at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The teams will fight for the title for the second time in three years – they met for the last time at the Super Bowl LVII in 2023, that the chiefs won 38-35.

Leslie Bonci, a dietician who worked with the chiefs, previously told Business Insider that players liked to have breakfast.

“Breakfast is always a great success, their favorite meal of the day,” said Bonci, adding that some players even eat food for breakfast before a match.

She also shared that they eat different meals depending on their goals: “win plates” for those who try to develop muscles“Cup plates” for those who try to lose weightand “healing plates” intended to stimulate recovery. Whatever their goals, proteins are a huge component of each meal.

The tight chefs Travis Kelce eat around 4,000 calories per day, and his personal chief, Kumar Ferguson, describes the diet of player proteins as “a healthy steakhouse cuisine” with “steaks, chops, chicken and stuff like That”.

What is a good breakfast?

What many people consider to be a “traditional breakfast” may not be alike, told Yasi Ansari, a sports dietician based in Los Angeles.

“It is important to prepare a meal that helps meet the needs of someone protein, carbohydrates, fats, fluids and overall energy objectives and helps them start their strong and alert day – ideally thanks to a food approach, “she said.

For example, eat a full breakfast – like steak and rice, in the case of chef players – will help athletes meet the higher needs of protein, carbohydrates and overall energy, she said .

“In general, beef can offer a good source of protein, zinc, iron and vitamins B-12 and B-6, which can help support the formation of red blood cells, energy production, the Oxygen transport and the functioning of the nervous system, “said Ansari, adding that beef can also contribute to the supply of the creatine body, which provides energy to the muscles.

In the end, factors such as genetics, intestinal health, body composition objectives and the level of physical activity will affect the amount of protein that a person must eat every day, Kylene Bogden dietitian said in previously.

That said, Recent studies suggest Consuming 0.7 grams of protein per body of body weight is the ideal quantity for those who want to maximize resistance gains.

Chicken and beef contain similar quantities of protein, although the amount of protein per ounce will depend on the meat cut, Ansari said.

“If someone prefers beef, I encourage to look for thinner beef cuts. The lean beef cuts have the word” round “or” lanyard “in the name,” said Ansari.

Generally, for breakfast, it recommends a combination of lean protein, carbohydrates – starchs such as potatoes, cereals or dense nutritional breads – and one side of fruits or vegetables.
