The Chicago Air and Water Show is changing due to the DNC this summer – NBC Chicago

The Chicago Air and Water Show will once again showcase incredible spectacles in the skies and waters of Lake Michigan, but the dates have been moved due to one of the biggest political events on the calendar.

As Chicago hosts the Democratic National Convention for the first time since 1996, the Air and Water Show will take place a week earlier than usual, according to city officials.

Typically, the show takes place the third weekend in August, but this year the air and water show will take place Aug. 10 and 11, depending on the city.

The Democratic National Convention will be held at the United Center and McCormick Place between August 19 and 22, culminating with the presumptive nomination of President Joe Biden as he seeks a second term.

Chicago officials say more than two million people are expected to attend the air and water show, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

This year, the US Navy Blue Angels will be one of the headliners of the show, alongside the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, the US Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and many more. others.

Other military aircraft and ships will also take part in the festivities, with free entry for all spectators.
