The Celtics star Jayson Tatum was operated for a torn Achilles

The Boston Celtics striker Jayson Tatum will miss the rest of the season after having undergone surgery for a torn Achilles on Tuesday, the team announced.

Tatum suffered the injury in the defeat of the Celtics 4 match against New York Knicks on Monday. While trying to recover a loose ball at the end of the fourth quarter, Tatum collapsed on the ground and started to tighten his right leg.

Tatum was then brought back to the locker room in wheelchair.

Before the injury, Tatum had its best performance in the second round. He scored 42 points out of 57.1% shot in 40 minutes, with eight rebounds and four assists, although Boston followed nine points when he left the court.

Before match 4, Tatum had fought against New York, with an average of 19.3 points during the first three games in the series. During his career, Tatum collected an average of 24.3 points in 121 playoffs.

Tatum, 27, is perhaps the most accomplished star of the NBA under the age of 30.
