Ryan Leonard Tuesday evening its beginnings in the NHL against Boston Bruins. The 20 -year -old winger had the unique opportunity to play his first NHL match not only in his country of origin, but also in the city where he played university hockey just a few days ago.
These two factors made sure that Leonard had a whole series of support for TD Garden to watch his first official NHL match with Washington’s capital. And, they made their presence known almost immediately under the name of his teammates of the Boston College bordered the glass for the heating.
The Eagles goalkeeper Jacob Fowler and the defenders were spotted in the crowd, Drew Fortescue and Aram Minnetien.
Leonard and the rest of the Eagles have played several games at TD Garden in the past two seasons, including the Beanpot final against the University of Boston on February 10. On the winning side of this match, then appointed Beanpot MVP, was another prospect capital and the defender of the University of Boston, Cole Hutson.
Hutson, also Leonard teammates in the winning team of gold medals in the United States at the World Juniors 2025, made the quick trip to his school to support his friend and perhaps check his future team. Hutson and the burrows are still in the NCAA tournament, obtaining one of the four places in Frozen Four this year.
Given the proximity of the game with the hometown of Leonard, Northampton, Massachusetts, the whole Leonard family was able to go to the game. His parents, John and Cindy, as well as his brothers and sisters, John, Alyssa and Brianna, were all able to see his first progress on the NHL ice.
John, Ryan’s older brother, is playing for the AHL Charlotte Checkers this season, but fortunately, Charlotte is in the middle of a four -day break between the matches.
Leonard ended his debut by skating 14:13 of the ice time, recording an attempt to individual shooting, a chance to score individual, a higher note and three strokes.
