Walnut – Bianca Nwaizu felt naturally responded last summer by swimming at 14 in American Olympic trials, a meeting known for making the most experienced runners.

Not only did Nwaizu spent months of energy to qualify for the tests during her last summer attempt, she ended up on the same pool bridge with several sports stars such as the Sisters Alex and Gretchen Walsh.

“These people I see on television, and I’m just there,” recalls Nwaizu. “I entered and I was just a bit like” I don’t belong here. I don’t deserve to be here. (I learned) You have to get confident and know exactly what you have (need) to do.

NWAIZU displayed its growth on Wednesday to the Preliminaries of Swimming of the CIF-SS 3 division at the Mt. SAC.

The second year student of the Calvary chapel flambé to the record for division 3 to 100 meters breaststroke and qualified first at the 100 butterfly to highlight the session of the Comté d’Orange.

Nwaizu took off his starting block in the breaststroke and quickly reached a high pace. The title champion in the state of the CIF stopped the chronometer in 1 minute, 0.44 to break the Division 3 2014 standard of the former Crean Lutheran and the star of Stanford Ella Eastin of more than a second.

Nwaizu also added the Division 3 record to a curriculum vitae which includes its division 4 record last season.

“I wanted to go 59 (seconds) but I will simply take it,” said Nwaizu, who posted the fastest of Orange County this season.

A single daughter of the County of Orange never broke 59 seconds in a high school 100 breaststroke, and it is the county holder, Teagan O’Dell of Santa Margarita (59.73 in 2023).

Nwaizu continued its ascent in December by beating the barrier with a 59.73 – at the same time as the OC of O’Dell record – at the Speedo Winter Junior West with the Irvine Novaquatics Club.

It will aim for 59 seconds in the 10 a.m. final.

“At Junior Nationals, I was locked up,” she said. “I just need to curl up.”

Nwaizu qualified first in the 100 butterfly with a better 55.91 for life, almost 2 1/2 seconds ahead of seeds n ° 2 and the first year Cassandra Espinoza de Sonora.

Nwaizu also helped the 200 Four Calvary Chapel relay to qualify the fourth (1: 56.42) behind Crean Lutheran (1: 54.43), El Toro (1: 55.48) An Sonora (1: 44.60).

The relay will be a new experience in high school for Nwaizu, which ran alone to CIF last season at Liberty Christian.

“I have never done a high school relay before,” she said with enthusiasm.

Sonora’s senior, Mayu Yager, also qualified first in two events. It timed the best times in the 200 IM (2: 07.68) and 500 free (5: 00.32).

Orange County also has a swimmer to look in the boys’ breaststroke finals. El Modena Junior Barron Murdock qualified second to Adriel Sun from South Torrance with a time of 58.61. The sun won the upper seed with a 57.92.

The 6-inch 6-inch Murdock is a former water polo player who focuses on swimming and training with the Socal Club. He recently set the school record with a 57.56 in the preliminaries of the North Hills League final.

“I found a lot of fun swimming,” said Murdock. “It helps me feel better about me.”

CIF state qualifier

Five boys OCs and three county girls qualified Tuesday for the CIF state championships next week in Fresno.

The subsidy of Capistrano Valley Christian Schneider won the qualification meeting of the section of the section at Mont Sac with a score of 334.80. The senior to Stanford is the reigning champion of state.

Schneider Outdistanced Finner-Up Chase Shipp de Laguna Beach (330.45), third place Valentino Nieto de Santo Margarita (310.60), fourth place Braeden Valenzuela de San Juan Hills (309.05) and sixth place Johnathon Reidel de Capistrano Valley (272.90).

Orange County’s Daughter’s County qualifications were third place Allison McNichols d’Edison (269.10), the fifth place Corinna Ruffini from Newport Harbor (264.70) and the sixth place Violet Carone from Newport Harbor (262.75).

Jacqueline Chen de San Dimas won the qualifier in 288.10.

Division 4 Prelims

The Tigers sprint relay qualified first with a time of 1: 48.81 while Pan claimed the boy’s seeded 500 with a 4: 46.88.
