- The Sydney MMA event has retained the fears of Gangland Hit
- Police think that the former UFC star could be targeted by crimes
A next event in mixed martial arts has been suddenly canceled following police concerns that a veteran and UFC trainer could be targeted for a gangland.
NSW police ended the black matter combat championship, scheduled for April 19 at the William Inglis hotel in Warwick Farm.
Police received information that the UFC veteran, Suman Mokhtarian, a leading figure in the local MMA scene, was the planned goal of a Hit Gangland, Ben Fordham of 2 GB reported.
Mokhtarian, co-founder of the Australian Top Team Gym, is an authorized coach and was preparing to wedge several of his fighters during the event.
The 32 -year -old was the target of an alleged assassination attempt in February of last year when a man was accused of having disguised himself as a delivery man and trying to shoot him in Wentworthville, west of Sydney.
Noa Touma, 21, was accused of attempted murder for the shooting.

In a letter sent to the promoter of the DMFC Andrew Delma earlier this month, NSW police said they would not support the issuance of a license for the night of combat by saying that there was a “serious risk to public security”.
“It’s very difficult,” Delmas told 2 GB.
“These types of events are extremely difficult to assemble, and the card is carefully selected in order to make the best special show we can. It takes months of work.
Police also told Delmas that they were concerned about some of the combatants reserved at the event, but will not identify which fighters.
“This is a really difficult situation for us right now, but we will survive it,” he said.
Delmas said he was in contact with the police to try to find a solution so that the event could move forward.
Mokhtarian would have said that he was happy not to attend the event, but the police feared that the criminals involved in the blow do not know this information and could potentially endanger the public.
Mokhtarian, born in Sydney, had his last fight at the UFC on December 21, 2019.
