Representative byron Donalds, R-Fla., Defended the technological billionaire Elon Musk to a town hall on Monday evening where he was toasted about the cost reduction measures of the Ministry of Efficiency and Efforts of the Trump administration to eliminate diversity initiatives and his approach to the War of Israel-Hamas.
Donalds, a member of the Chamber’s Supervisory Committee, was pressed at one point that the Panel led by the Republicans made to monitor muscs and Doges while the administration moves to considerably reshape the federal government and reduction expenses.
“If you are going to talk about what surveillance is doing, we must actually leave the Dogeying committee, the Doge Department, finish his work,” Donalds said at the event in Estero, Florida.
He also defended the efforts of the Trump administration to put an end to the diversity, equity and inclusion programs, arguing that it was a “false premise” that the absence of such initiatives in conference rooms and classrooms meant that “in a way, minority children cannot take front. It is a lie”.
“There is no playground in life; it does not exist,” said Donalds, one of the few black Republicans in the congress.
After a man in the audience shouted that Donalds should read a particular book, Donalds retaliated, telling man not to “educate me on my life, sir”.
“I love the way everyone shouts me, black with the microphone in their hand on stage,” said Donalds. “Don’t marginalize my life and what I did. Don’t do that.”
Throughout the town hall, dozens of people have gone, many expressing the frustration of Donalds’ responses, who presents himself for the Governor of Florida in the elections of next year.
Towards the end of the event, Donalds clashed with a member of the public on his answer to a question about the War of Israel-Hamas.
“We should support Israel 100%,” said Donalds. “I want our ally, who is Israel.”
When the public member stood up and protested strongly in his pro-Israeli position, Donalds said she lacked respect “everyone in this room” with his conduct.
“You think you are heard and be clear, you are not,” said Donalds. “We have established the rules. You are rude and disrespectful. You are not the only person to have a point of view in this room. ”
Shouts with “Free Palestine!” From a small number of public members could be heard while the woman left the place, followed by the police.
There was no arrest.
Donalds is part of a handful of republicans who held the town halls after representative Richard Hudson, RN.C., who chairs the National Committee of the Republican Congress, advised the GOP legislators at a closed -door meeting last month against the events in the midst of the severe criticisms of angry participants in the city more this year.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA., Tend on a town hall last week during which some public members were arrested and amazed by the police, while others were removed from the event.
