Chicago – The goalkeeper of Bulls Lonzo Ball was able to meet the family of the man who donated the knee cartilage he received in a transplant two years ago.
The ball signed jerseys and took photos before Wednesday 119-111 against Miami’s warmth with the mother, the father, an older brother and a young, and soon the sister-in-law of the late Dakota Dunes, the southern Dakota, who died at the age of 20 at the end of February 2023. Reinhardt, Alex’s Mother.
“It was extremely emotional,” she said. “So much happiness also accompanies him. All the people who are donors of Alex’s, we are just blessed. We have had mothers of certain people who have said things. Now we can meet Lonzo. It’s just a blessing to be able to look well with their knees or anything because of Alex. Of course, we want it to be here.”
Angie Reinhardt described his son as someone who “liked to do everything quickly”, that he was skiing or that he was skiing or tube. He also participated in football and wrestling in high school.
She said that the family had received a call from the donor network saying that an athlete who had received some of Alex’s fabrics was interested in meeting the family. A few weeks later, they discovered that the recipient was ball. The meeting met shortly after.
The ball has undergone a meniscus and cartilage transplant in its left knee in March 2023 after several procedures failed to resolve an injury he suffered during the 2021-222 – his first in Chicago season. He has been sidelined since the beginning of March because of a sprained straight wrist, but played 35 games this season after sitting in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
“Be able to continue to help people after his death really feels as a blessing for all of us,” said Angie Reinhardt.
