Two brothers who frequent Santa Ana high school were arrested during a stabbing incident on the campus which made a dead student and two other injured.
The brothers, aged 17 and 15, presented themselves with their parents at the headquarters of the police service and turned on Wednesday evening, just hours after the deadly stabs, according to Santa Ana police officer, Natalie Garcia.
She said that the two teenagers had been interviewed, then arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall, where they were each reserved for murder and attempted murder. She said that the weapon used in the attack remains missing.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday when Santa Ana’s police school reported a stab in a fight in front of the Santa Ana high school.
At least three students, aged 14, 15 and 16, were found with wounds by stab wounds and transported by paramedical paramedics in a local hospital.
The 14 -year -old, police said, died of his injuries and the other two victims were listed as stable.
The killed boy was identified as Armando Morales of Santa Ana by managers of the Coroner of Orange County and a GoFundme page was created by his family to collect funds for his funeral expenses.
Misael Morales wrote on the site that his brother was a happy and intelligent child who was known to make people laugh.
Jazmin Delgado, the victim’s cousin, echoed these words in an interview with ABC 7.
“He was always a happy child and always liked to help and was just an incredible little child,” Delgado told the station. Armando’s family said the teenager was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They said he intervened to help his friends when he was stabbed.
Homicide investigators thought that the five adolescents involved were members of suspicious gangs and investigated stabs like gangs, according to Garcia. But what triggered the confrontation remained under investigation.
She said investigators also thought that a weapon had been used in the attack and had not been able to locate it so far.
Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into stabs and ask all potential witnesses to contact investigators at (714) 245-8390 or Orange County Stoppers crime at 1-855-TIP-WCC.
