Cincinnati – Milwaukee Brewers continue to stabilize and, with the inspiration of former advertiser Bob Ucker, equaled the franchise record for consecutive victories at 13 years old.
The Brewers gathered seven points in two rounds Friday evening by scoring nine unanswered points by beating the Cincinnati Reds 10-8.
Milwaukee opened the 1987 season by winning the first 13 games.
“It’s just a special victory,” said Christian Yelich, who had four strokes – including two circuits – and five points produced.
Yelich told Manager Pat Murphy that they would win despite the follow-up of 8-1 after two rounds. He played with a bat honoring Uecker, the former Brewers advertising advertising in January at the age of 90.
Yelich said Brewers were previously in this situation and found a way to close it.
“Just with the way our team is, I knew we were not going to explode our doors,” said Yelich. “You know that we are going to find a way to come back to this thing. We just have a combatant and guy room who don’t care what the dashboard says or something like that.”
Uecker, nicknamed Mr. Baseball, has broadcast Milwaukee games for more than half a century. Murphy said they had to convince themselves that Uecker is still with them after what he meant for the organization.
“In one way or another, it seems that he watches over us,” said Murphy. “I said he wouldn’t miss a match. Well, he was definitely here tonight. Yelly proved it.” Special. “
Yelich almost tidy up the bat in the honor of Uecker after participating in his first At-Bat in the second round, but he continued to swing him the rest of the match. He was supposed to use the bat tribute last year, but his back surgery last August reported the tribute. Uecker loved the bat when he saw it. Yelich called this kind of moment in a full circle.
“If you know Ueck, you know that crazy things that it will happen when it is involved,” said Yelich. “It adds how special this evening was.”
The last Brewers sequence occurs in a season where they have not lost very often, leaving them at the top of the major baseball league with a file of 77-44. It’s six games better than the Blue Jays de Toronto brand, and Milwaukee opened a lead of nine games on the Chicago Cubs in the Central of the National League.
The Brewers, on the other hand, became the first team in 94 years to extend a sequence of two -digit victories with a return victory for seven or more points, according to ESPN Research.
