The Braves announced this right -hander Spencer Strider Was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive until April 18, with a tense hamstrings. Gnar -shaped Michael Petersen was recalled to take his place on the list.
Strider has just left it less than a week ago. He had spent a little over a year recovering from UCL surgery. He left, launching five rounds against the Blue Jays. He had to take back the ball tomorrow against the cardinals. According to David O’Brien from The Athletic and Mark Bowman from MLB.com, he just suffered the injury by playing capture during the last hour. He then told the club that he would not be able to make his start.
At this point, there is nothing to indicate that it will be an important absence, but it is the last lag of slowdown in what has already been a frustrating season for Atlanta fans. The 2025 campaign finished terrible. There was at least a little momentum recently, with the return of Strider and the club sweeping the twins during the weekend. But these three victories still leave the club in the last place in the National League is with a file of 8-13.
Now Strider will miss at least a few laps through the rotation, which means that the club will have to quickly rotate in terms of plans. Spencer Schwellenbach Take the ball tonight. Bryce Elder is planned to launch Wednesday on regular rest. Cutting Elder until tomorrow to take the place of strider would mean the pitch at short rest. Dirty chris And Grant Holmes are aligned to follow the elder.
Reynaldo López is also on the injured list and will not be back as soon as it will be closed in July. Ian Anderson Was exchanged to angels just before the opening day, with José Suarez come back in return. Suarez himself was appointed for assignment last night when the club acquired a lifter Scott Blewett.
AJ Smith-Shawver Was with the Big League Club earlier this year, but he just launched 5 2/3 Triple-a Friday rounds, which means that he should rest to take the ball tomorrow. Hurston Waldrep Launched five rounds on Saturday, which means that it should not be available. Davis Daniel recorded five rounds yesterday. Dylan Dodd launched in relief among minors but has some departure experience. Zach Thompson was with the club as a great relief earlier this year. He launched Triple-A yesterday, but only two rounds, so maybe he will have some availability for tomorrow.
It will be a short -term challenge because the club left on Thursday. If they want to bring Smith-Shawver to enter or one of these other launchers in the mixture, they should be able to do it this weekend. However, it is a less than Ideal development for the club at this stage. As mentioned, they dug in a little hole at the beginning. They have work to do to return to the mixture in the coming months. Strider is one of the most dominant launchers in the League to its best and, hopefully, would stabilize the rotation in the absence of López. It could still happen, but will now have to wait a few weeks, or maybe longer.
