- The Royal Mail in the United Kingdom is testing new postal boxes with larger packages of packages for used sellers.
- Postal boxes have solar panels and barcode scanners to provide publication proof via an application.
- Royal Mail is struggling with losses and growing competition in parcel deliveries.
The Royal Mail in Great Britain gives some of its boxes to the emblematic postal boxes an upgrade of the 21st century to better serve used sellers.
The British postal service tests five postal solar energy boxes with a hatch that accepts plots that are too large for a normal slit.
The panels feed a barcode reader that customers can use to scan plots and avoid queues in a post office.
The proof of publication is available via an application, which, according to Royal Mail, in a press release aimed to make the sale occasional faster and more without friction.
This decision follows an increase in sales on second -hand markets and more buyers returning online purchases.
Emma Gilthorpe, CEO of Royal Mail, said: “At a time when the volumes of letters continue to drop and the packages are booming, we give our emblematic postal boxes a new lifestyle at the corners of the street across the country.”
Royal Mail always dominates the letters market, but faces growing competition for corporate plots such as DHL, UPS and Amazon Logistics.
He also faced problems, including missed delivery objectives, strikes, fines and posted a loss of around $ 448 million for the year 2023-24.
Royal Mail said thousands of postal boxes could be adapted to the last design if the test is a success. There are about 115,000 postal boxes across the United Kingdom in half a thousand of 98% of the addresses.
