Ruben Amorim explained why he decided to drop Rasmus Hojlund on the bench before the shock of Manchester United against Arsenal.
Hojlund did not appreciate the race of The Green since the arrival of Old Trafford of Amorim in November and has been aimlessly of Premier League since mid-December, where he won a 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
The man of 72 million pounds sterling thus accumulated his fair share of criticism, some marking him as one of the least valuing signatures of recent memory.
With only two leagues strikes his name this quarter, Amorim made the decision to drop the Danes in the middle of his drought of 19 games.
However, the Portuguese boss insisted that the form is not the reason for his bench.
“No, it’s freshness,” he said. “I think he was really tired at the end of the game. And we tried different things.

“We know that the opposition, the two central defenders, what they want, what they like. And we tried to do different things to surprise the opponent.
Hojlund played the complete 90 minutes while United facing Real Sociedad in the first leg of his Europa League draw last week.
It was Dane’s strike partner who bags the one and only goal of the Red Devils, Joshua Zirkzee catching the Sociedad cap to give United in Spain.
However, handball against Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts the opportunity to equalize from the place – an opportunity that has joyfully seized by Mikel Oyarzabal, who slipped Andre Onana to put things in the second stage in Manchester.
United, which decreases in 15th in the table, is now faced with the Chasing Arsenal title test – which, despite a lack of attacker, showed his score prowess in the Champions League on Tuesday, pulling seven against the PSV.
The Gunners make the trip to Old Trafford, a stadium formerly considered a fortress, but is not barely that, with the shape of the home of Man United being something sinister for Amorim.
While they have exceeded Ipswich, threatened by relegation, the last time in the league, they have undergone home defeats against Crystal Palace, Brighton and more recently Fulham in FA Cup, all since the new year.
While a gigantic element whatever its current form, United will have to produce a shock to go out as winners against the Mikel Arteta team if they seek to jump over the Giants Fallen Tottenham, who came from two behind to save a point against Bournemouth earlier in the day.
