To date, we all know that sun protection is essential to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. But we also know that not all solar screens work for dark skin tones. It is not because you have darker skin that you should have to deal with sunscreens that leave white throws behind it in the name of skin health. Fortunately, there are many sunscreen options that offer all sun protection without white distribution. To discover the best sunscreen for dark skin and to answer all your Burning SPF questions, we talked to the dermatologist Dr Karyn Grossman, whose famous customers include Gwyneth Paltrow, Linda Evangelista and Molly Sims.
Should people with darker skin tones wear sunscreen regularly?
“Everyone, whatever the complexion, should wear sunscreen daily,” encourages Dr Grosman. “People with darker tones of skin often believe that they do not need protection because they are less sensitive to sunburn than, say, a very fair skin head. However, people with darker skin tones can always be burned, and they often get a tan, which is also a sign of damage caused by the sun.”
But it goes even further than that. “In addition to providing protection against burns and tanning, SPF is also very important for Protect the skin from pigmentation problemswhich are more common in darker individuals in tones of skin, ”explains Dr Grossman.
