According to Bruce Grayson, makeup artist and head of the makeup department at the 2024 Oscars, the key to finding the perfect concealer is knowing your skin type. “Different skin types have different concealer needs,” says Grayson. It makes perfect sense that a person with dry skin would have different needs than someone with oily skin.
According to Grayson, the best choice for someone with dry skin is a hydrating concealer with hydrating ingredients, like hyaluronic acid, while someone with oily skin prefers an oil-free concealer with a matte finish. Combination skin types should look for lightweight, buildable formulas with some hydration but minimal oil.
