The bell rang again in the Saint-Michel-de-Brasparts chapel

It was to the sound of binious that nearly 200 people (elected officials, craftsmen, farmers, firefighters and residents) climbed Mont Saint-Michel-de-Brasparts this Friday, at the start of the evening. Upon arrival, everyone was able to discover the newly renovated chapel. Windswept but radiant. A moment rich in emotion, wonder and pride.
Sober but innovative
On entering the chapel, Father Christian Le Borgne, the Bishop of Quimper and Léon Monseigneur Laurent Dognin and the President of the Department Maël de Calan could not resist the urge to ring the bell, deposited there over thirty years, and back in his place.
The bishop, who saw the architect’s plans become concrete, remembers: “When I saw the project, I had a shock of admiration. It is very nicely sober. The resurfaced walls and the plate, which creates reflections, make the whole more cheerful, brighter. We feel that it is open to everyone, and not just to Christians”.
“I was always scared when I came here with groups of what I would see there. There it invites meditation, ”breathes, for his part, the parish priest.
Inside, the floor, still clay, arouses an idea in a visitor. With humour, she proposes to organize a fest-noz there “to settle the earth as before”.
The altar, the cross, the candlesticks and the walls capture all eyes. “It’s a very nice result with the junction of contemporary design in the religious environment. I had never seen this kind of innovation”, greets Mathieu Cabioch, ironworker, who himself brought his stone to the building. The artist who worked on it, Ronan Bouroullec, is highly praised. “Working in such an extraordinary place was an incredible opportunity. When the proposal came to me. I did not think. I immediately said yes, remembers the designer. I’m pretty happy with the project, which doesn’t happen often. »
The chapel will be open to visits during the summer even if some work remains to be finalized. But on September 24, it will be the parishioners who will be able to take full advantage of the site, on the occasion of a Pardon of Saint Michael, particularly awaited.
