- England will face Italy in the penultimate competing with the six nations in Twickenham on Saturday
- The Steve Barthwick team is still in progress to win the tournament
- However, the BBC has rather chosen to broadcast the Champions Trophy final
Fans of England of Rugby will not be able to hear comments on the six nations of their team compete with Italy on the radio – despite promising BBC listeners that he would broadcast in each match.
In a surprise decision, the Beeb chose to broadcast the final of the Cricket Champions Trophy between India and South Africa or New Zealand on Radio 5 Extra Sports on Sunday, with 5 live taking the Chelsea Premier League match against Leicester.
This means that audio coverage of the penultimate match of the Six Nations in England has been relegated to the website or to the application of the BBC Sport, in one support for supporters unable to watch on television or Internet access.
This decision is controversial since the Steve Barthwick team is still in the running to win the tournament, while the Champions Trophy final does not imply England, which was released in the group phase.
BBC sources insist that the decision is based on the fact that the Premier League Trophy and the Champions are the cause of a television payment wall, while the Six Nations match is available to watch for free on ITV.
They also point out that they have covered the champions trophy in full throughout the tournament.

However, in 2021, when the BEEB obtained audio rights for the six male nations from 2022 to 2025, he declared: “ Depending on the previous years, each native nation match throughout the competition will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 5 live or 5 live sports. ”.
In January, the OFCOM broadcasting regulator published a declaration on coverage of the Six Nations and said: “ The BBC will broadcast the radio coverage live from all the 2025 Six Nations matches on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Radio Extra. ”
An advertisement of the BBC on the same day insisted that there would be an “ audio comment live from each home game at BBC Sounds, BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 extra sports ”.
The Beeb broadcast the three previous games of England against Ireland, France and Scotland on 5 live or 5 additional sports.
Asked about the Sunday calendar, a spokesperson for the BBC Sport told Mail Sport: “BBC Sport offers the public a complete multiplatform coverage of the six nations covering all nations of origin, including the match of Scotland against Wales this Saturday. The commentary on the England match against Italy will be on the website and the application of the BBC Sport.
