The majestic Bayesian Superyacht, which founded last year, killing seven people, was probably overthrown by an intense gust of wind and sank in a few minutes, according to a preliminary investigation by the British maritime authorities.
While the storm approached, a young watch bridge delayed the captain’s awakening and rather published a video of the carrelle on his social media flow, the investigation revealed.
The result was a fast evolving disaster – a few minutes, from the moment the skipper was woken up to the ship down – in which the storm has torn a
“The conclusions indicate that the extreme wind felt by Bayesian was sufficient to overthrow the yacht,” said Captain Andrew Moll, the chief inspector of marine accidents for the management of the investigation into marine accidents, a British agency. “Once the yacht was in heel beyond a 70 degree angle, the situation was irreparable.”
The report noted that the Bayesian signature characteristic, its gigantic unique mast, one of the highest in the world, increased the vulnerability of the cap capable by strong winds. The New York Times published similar results last year in its own investigation into the accident and found that the Bayesian was an aberrant value. All the other boats in the same series, from the same Italian manufacturer, had two masts instead of one.
The company said that when it was properly operated on, the Bayesian was “insinable”.
