Thomas Muller provided a characteristic response when he is questioned about the reason for the defeat of Bayern Munich in the Champions League by Inter Milan.
The German giants underwent a 2-1 home demoralizing defeat against the Italians, with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Davide Prattesi putting them in a dominant position before the return match of next week.
However, things could have been very different for the club that will host the competition final on May 30, when Harry Kane wasted a chance with the passing score.
In the 25th minute, the Englishman refreshed his lines at close range after being played by Michael Olise, only for Martinez to break ten minutes later.
Muller, who should leave the Bavarian giants at the end of the season, thought he had torn off a late draw when he hit the 85th minute. But it was Inter who would have the last laugh with the arrival of Frattesi on the counter.
After the match, Muller did not hesitate to underline the luck that Kane missed and admitted that the result could have been different if the skipper of the three Lions had converted his opportunity.

“Unfortunately, we missed a great chance in the first half with Harry, that would have given us a different feeling,” he said. “Inter has good players with the ball who are able to take the rhythm of the game and slow it down, then play long balls at their strikers.
“They experienced and physical players – it was not a walk in the park and we did not expect it to be. We created chances in the second half, but unfortunately I could not convert them.
Kane may have been guilty on Tuesday evening, but his goals helped to fire Bayern at dawn to find their German crown.
The striker scored 34 goals in 40 games this season, including 10 in the Champions League.
Since his arrival from Tottenham for costs of 100 million pounds sterling in 2023, he has scored 87 goals in 85 games in all competitions.
