Bart runners were forced to find other transport early Friday after the agency closed its system as a whole after a computer networking problem with trains control, officials said.
The system level closure was announced for the first time at 4:24, Bart said that he did not make how long the system would be down, only saying that there would be no service “until further notice”.
“Due to a problem of trains control system, the Bart service is suspended on the system scale until further notice,” wrote Bart on his social networks.
The spokesperson, Cheryl Salter, said that AC Transit and Muni offered aid to the riders and honoring Bart tickets.
Technicians were having the situation at 6 am, according to Salter.
