A woman opened fire on other hikers, but did not injure anyone on Sunday morning on the popular Trail Cowles Mountain Trail in the San Carlos district of San Diego, police announced.
The police placed the woman in police custody in suspicion of aggression with a fatal weapon and illegally carrying a hidden firearm, said the San Diego police officer John Buttle, adding that the weapon was an un serialized “ghost pistol”.
The shooting was reported around 10:45 a.m. on the path strongly victim of the milking which is part of the regional trail mission park. We did not know exactly where on the mountain that the shooting occurred. Buttle said the police responded to the start of the Golfcrest Drive and Navajo Road path.
The police believe that a kind of dispute or argument triggered the shooting. Buttle said that the woman had removed the weapon from her banana bag and shot people above her on the track.
The name and age of the woman were not available Sunday evening.
With an altitude of almost 1,600 feet, Cowles Mountain is the highest point in the city of San Diego. Hundreds of people are the top of the mountain every day, although weekends are particularly busy on the round trip of 3 miles.
