TOHO Animations began streaming the “final” trailer for the second anime season based on Natsu Hyuga And Touko ShinoIt is The Apothecary’s Journals (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) light novel series Sunday. The trailer announces and previews the singer-songwriter’s new ending theme song “Shiawase no Recipe.” Dai Hirai.
Asami Seto joins the cast as servant Shisui. Lilac Ikuta (BEAUTIFUL, Dead Dead Demon’s Dededestruction) performs the opening theme song “Hyakkaryōran” (Splendid Bounty). This is the first opening theme song for a television anime in Ikuta’s solo career. (She also plays the role of YOASOBI the singer of the unit under the name ikura.)
The season will begin on January 10 at 11:00 p.m. JST (9:00 a.m. EST) on Japanese television‘s FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT programming block, and will air for two consecutive periods course (quarter year). Crunchy roll will broadcast the second season.
J Novel Club publishes the novel series digitally and describes the story:
To the east is a land ruled by an emperor, whose wives and maids live in a vast compound known as the hougong, the back palace. Maomao, a modest girl raised in a modest town by her apothecary father, never imagined that the back palace would have anything to do with her, until she was kidnapped there and sold for serve there.

Norihiro Naganuma (The Ancient Mage’s Bride season 1) directed the first season at TOHO Entertainment And OLMand Naganuma also supervised the scripts. Akinori Fudesaka was the deputy director. Yukiko Nakatani (Go! Princess Precure, Tropical-Red! Precure) designed the characters. Shoji Hata was the sound director. Satoru Kousaki (Vivy -The song of the eye of fluorite-), Kevin Penkin (Made in the Abyss), And Arisa Okehazama (ONIMAI: I am now your sister!) all music composed for the anime.
Hyūga began publishing the story serially on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) website in October 2011. Shufunotomo began publishing the novels in print volume with illustrations by Shino in August 2014. Nekokurage launched an ongoing manga adaptation in Square-EnixIt is Monthly Big Gangan magazine in May 2017. Manga and books Square Enix releases the manga adaptation in English. The company also began publishing the novels in print, with the first volume released on May 14 and the fourth volume on February 4.
