A private American security company will resume a key control point on the road north of Gaza in the coming days while Israeli forces withdraw from the region on Saturday, a familiar source told CNN.
Staff armed with an American security contractor manages the checkpoint and will be responsible for the inspection of vehicles entering northern Gaza. The Palestinians returning to the north of Gaza on foot will not be inspected, under the terms of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Israeli forces should withdraw from the Netzarim corridor in the center of Gaza on Saturday, which will allow the displaced residents of Northern Gaza to return home – or what remains.
Appointed according to the former Israeli colony of Netzarim in Gaza, the corridor was built by Israeli forces to create a strategic and central route that believes the band.
The Israeli media reported that a security entrepreneur named UG solutions would deploy staff to the checkpoint. Another American company, Safe Reach Solutions, would be involved in planning and logistics of the control point.
None of the companies have an extended online footprint. On its website, Safe Reach Solutions indicates that it provides “planning, logistics and strategic expertise of organizations operating in the most complex environments in the world”.
Israel has long been reflecting on various plans to deploy private American entrepreneurs to protect assistance expeditions to Gaza or to establish humanitarian areas that have been fully rid of Hamas activists.
None of these plans has ever been materialized, but the entrepreneur’s control point could be a key test for the viability of the deployment of private entrepreneurs in Gaza.
Israeli troops withdrew from the corridor in the center of Gaza after a ceasefire agreement was concluded between Israel and Hamas last week.
The three -phase agreement raised cautious hopes for the end of the war. The first phase will last six weeks and see the echelon output of 33 Israeli hostages. In return, Israel is expected to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
During the first phase of 42 days, Israel should withdraw from population centers, but will retain a presence along the borders of Gaza and on a road dividing the territory.
